Opened in 2001 by Maya Kalman, Swank began as a boutique wedding coordination company. Catapulted to notoriety by the airing of her wedding on Food Network's Wedding Feasts, Maya began receiving calls from friends and other viewers who had seen the show and wanted help with their own weddings. Not only was Maya's wedding in one of the first empty lofts that had been converted to a wedding space, it was one of the first wedding reality shows to ever air. Since then Swank has appeared on, and designed for, many TV networks and other media outlets from the Times to W Magazine.

In the last 8 years, Swank has branched from weddings into other areas of events including social occasions and corporate events. "Its been an exciting few years." says owner Maya. "Now we work with well known brand names, travel around the world, and have celebrities show up at our parties. Who would've known back then where we'd be today."
